Find Out About the Beautiful Frame Park Grounds

This beautiful linear park site lies along the banks of the Fox River between Barstow Street and Moreland Boulevard. Many landscape features and hardscape improvements have been added to the park over the last several years.

A pair of paved pathways wind in a 1.7-mile serpentine loop throughout the park. These paths are separate and accommodate both walkers and bikers. Frame Park is extensively landscaped.

The Fox River divides the park’s landscapes into two distinct areas. The east side of the park is quite formal with spectacularly planted specimen trees, as well as perennial and shrub beds.

The west side of the park emphasizes a more natural river edge landscape, which also utilizes flowering plant beds and individual trees. Don’t forget to check out Frame Park’s attractions when you are here.

Other park facilities include a fenced baseball diamond with lights, playground equipment areas, picnic shelter, formal gardens, restrooms, park lights, and parking lots. In addition, a boat ramp on the south end of the park provides limited access to the Fox River.

Large open areas suitable for community festivals have been created. Facilities on the festival grounds include vendor areas. An outdoor performance amphitheater has been constructed near the festival grounds. The amphitheater is suitable for music groups, theatrical presentations, as well as festival events. The Barstow Plaza is located adjacent to the Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building. The plaza’s key feature is a large lagoon area with tiered concrete seating for admiring the waterfall and art installations. There is a small information kiosk and a paved area for small gatherings. The dam has been redesigned and professionally lit to enhance the waterfall’s aesthetics. The Plaza provides ample seating areas for informal use.

The Formal Gardens, Waukesha’s beautiful hidden gem, is the destination for the perfect backdrop in photographs of bridal parties, anniversaries, graduations or other special occasions.

On October 25, 1939, in a dedication ceremony, a plaque was put in place at the front of the sunken garden. The plaque bears the inscription ”Dedicated to the memory of Andrew J. and Emma R. Frame, generous donors of Frame Park 1928″.

Thirty-five acres of land, including the two acres for the Formal Garden, had been donated to the City of Waukesha’s park system. The formal garden consists of 18 ever-changing annual flower beds, 6 colorful perennial areas, 11 fragrant rose beds yielding thousands of flowers in bloom to behold and admire.

A large playground area has been constructed and located near Moreland Boulevard. The kids will have a great time sliding, climbing and playing. Sand volleyball courts are located near the picnic shelter. Make sure you check all the park attractions!
